Mesh router for whole-home coverage

The ASUS ZenWiFi BD5 is a single-unit mesh router built on WiFi 7 that delivers dual-band speeds up to 5000 Mbps. It uses four internal antennas, four high-power front-end modules and a quad-core 1.5 GHz processor with robust cooling to eliminate dead zones across areas up to 2500 sq. ft. Commercial-grade AiProtection Pro and advanced VPNs provide 24/7 network security.

Suits homes that want simple expandable WiFi

Buyers who need a mesh system that can grow will appreciate ASUS AiMesh technology, which allows seamless extension with compatible ASUS routers. Households requiring tri-band operation or a dedicated backhaul channel should look at other solutions, as this model operates on dual-band only.

Dual 2.5G Ethernet ports with auto detection

Two 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet ports automatically detect WAN or LAN connections, giving flexible high-speed wired links for ISP modems, switches or NAS devices. This port configuration is the key spec for deciding whether the router fits your wired-infrastructure plan.

Questions about this item

Will the dual 2.5G Ethernet ports on this router work with my existing Gigabit switch and NAS?

Yes, the dual 2.5G ports auto-detect link speed, so they will negotiate down to 1 Gbps and work normally with your current Gigabit equipment.

How can I verify the quad-core 1.5 GHz CPU is handling traffic without overheating after I set it up?

Check the ASUS router app or web interface for real-time CPU load and temperature readings; the built-in cooling system is designed to keep the processor within safe limits under continuous load.

Does the single pack include everything needed to create a mesh network, or must I buy extra nodes separately?

The 1-pack contains one BD5 router with four internal antennas and a power adapter; additional ZenWiFi or compatible AiMesh nodes must be purchased separately to expand coverage beyond 2500 sq.ft.
