HDMI HDBaseT-Lite Receiver

The ATEN VE802R receives HDMI video over a single Cat 5e/6/6a cable at distances up to 40 metres for 4K or 70 metres for 1080p. It is designed for installers who need reliable long-range distribution in professional AV environments. Power over HDBaseT allows the unit to draw power from a compatible transmitter, reducing local cabling. The metal housing supports rack or surface mounting with the included bracket.

HDBaseT Class B distance limits

4K signals reach 35 metres over Cat 5e/6 and 40 metres over Cat 6a or ATEN 2L-2910 Cat 6 cable. 1080p extends to 60 metres on Cat 5e/6 and 70 metres on Cat 6a or ATEN 2L-2910 Cat 6 cable. The HDMI output cable is limited to 1.8 metres. HDCP and CEC pass through transparently. Builders who need longer 4K runs or fibre-based extension cannot use this receiver.

4K 4:2:0 at 60 Hz headroom

The receiver handles 4096 x 2160 and 3840 x 2160 at 60 Hz with 4:2:0 chroma subsampling and at 30 Hz with 4:4:4. Maximum data rate is 10.2 Gbps with a 340 MHz pixel clock. RS-232 and IR ports provide bidirectional control for connected displays. Installations requiring 4K 4:4:4 at 60 Hz or HDR metadata transport exceed the available bandwidth.

Questions about this item

How do I pick the right Cat cable to reach the distance I need?

Use Cat 5e or Cat 6 for 4K up to 35 metres or 1080p up to 60 metres. For 4K at 40 metres or 1080p at 70 metres, use Cat 6a or the ATEN 2L-2910 Cat 6 cable.

What does the 10.2 Gbps rating mean when the receiver is installed?

It supports video up to 4096 x 2160 or 3840 x 2160 at 60 Hz with 4:2:0 chroma subsampling, or at 30 Hz with 4:4:4 colour, within the 340 MHz pixel clock limit.

What does the HDBaseT Class B label cap in practice?

It limits the link to the distances above — 4K at 35 or 40 metres depending on cable grade, and 1080p at 60 or 70 metres — with a maximum data rate of 10.2 Gbps over a single RJ-45 connection.
