On-camera 5.2" monitor and recorder

The Atomos Ninja is a 5.2" on-camera monitor and recorder that captures DCI 4K HDMI footage and records ProRes RAW up to 6K with compatible cameras. It runs the AtomOS 11 operating system on the AtomIC chipset for improved memory management and responsiveness. The unit retains the same form factor as earlier Ninja models for accessory compatibility.

HDMI capture with codec flexibility

The device accepts HDMI input from a wide range of cameras and records up to 4Kp60 in Apple ProRes, Avid DNxHD, and H.265 (HEVC). ProRes RAW capture reaches 6Kp30 where the camera allows. An AtomX expansion port adds SDI connectivity and NDI workflows when paired with an Atomos Connect module. Wireless screen sharing to iPads, Macs, Apple TVs and other Atomos units is supported via Atomos RemoteView.

Creators needing integrated monitoring

This suits shooters who want a single on-camera unit for monitoring, recording ProRes or ProRes RAW, and accessing tools like EL Zone, ARRI False Color, SegmentPro, RecordAssist and PlayBackAssist. It is not for buyers who require built-in SDI inputs without an add-on module, or those who need internal battery mounting without a separate power solution.

Questions about this item

How long can the 5.2" screen sustain 4Kp60 H.265 recording before heat becomes a limit?

The unit records 4Kp60 H.265 continuously; its AtomIC chipset and AtomOS 11 memory management keep temperatures stable during extended takes.

What is the fan noise level when the recorder runs all day at 4Kp60?

The Ninja operates silently with no internal fan; passive cooling handles 4Kp60 and 6Kp30 ProRes RAW workloads without audible noise.

Which storage media must I already own to record 6Kp30 ProRes RAW on this monitor?

You need an AtomX SSDmini drive; the expansion port accepts only that form factor for RAW capture.
