P-mount elliptical cartridge

The Audio-Technica AT85EP is a 0.3 x 0.7 mil elliptical stylus cartridge built for linear P-mount turntables. It brings precision engineering usually reserved for higher-priced models to a direct-plug format. This design suits owners of compatible turntables who want improved tracking without changing their tonearm.

Low mass tracking profile

The lightweight elliptical tip reduces record wear and distortion during normal playback. Its low moving mass draws minimal tracking force, keeping motor noise and resonance low. Power draw is passive, requiring no external supply beyond the turntable's phono stage.

Questions about this item

How do I install this AT85EP cartridge into a P-mount turntable and what step is often missed?

Plug the cartridge straight into the tonearm’s P-mount socket until it clicks; the step often missed is tightening the single locking screw that secures the cartridge body.

What maintenance will this 0.3 x 0.7 mil elliptical stylus need and when should it be replaced?

Brush the stylus tip gently before every play to remove dust; replace the stylus assembly when high-frequency detail fades or surface noise increases noticeably.
