Wide Outlet Shelf Overview

The AUDIOVOX Wide Outlet Shelf mounts directly to a wall outlet and provides a stable platform for devices up to five pounds. It offers 80 percent more surface area than the standard version, making room for smart speakers, routers, or tablets. The unit measures 6.3 by 8.2 by 6.9 inches and fits both standard duplex and Decora-style outlets.

Installation and Common Issues

Setup requires only a screwdriver and the included hardware and faceplates for both outlet types. A printed manual guides the process with step-by-step instructions. The most frequent issue is forgetting to choose the correct faceplate for the outlet style, which can leave gaps or prevent the shelf from sitting flush.

Outlet Compatibility Limits

The shelf draws no power of its own and adds no electrical connections; it simply uses the outlet as a mounting anchor. It cannot increase the number of available sockets or protect plugged-in gear from surges. Buyers who need extra receptacles or integrated cable routing beyond the built-in cord storage should look elsewhere.
