What this cable does and who it fits

This USB-C to Magnetic 3 cable delivers up to 140W of power to MacBook Air 13-inch, MacBook Air 15-inch, MacBook Pro 14-inch and MacBook Pro 16-inch models that use a Magnetic 3 port. It connects a standard USB-C power adapter to the laptop through a magnetic tip that releases under strain. The 6.6 ft length gives flexibility for desk or sofa use.

Power delivery limits and adapter requirements

The cable supports USB PD 3.1 up to 140W and requires a 96W or 140W USB-C PD adapter to reach its maximum rate. With lower-wattage adapters charging will be slower and the LED may show amber for longer. The built-in handshake at first connection is normal and protects the laptop from unstable voltage.

Installation steps and common issues

Plug the USB-C end into a certified high-wattage adapter, then bring the magnetic tip near the MacBook port — it snaps into place automatically. The LED shows amber while charging and green when full. If the LED stays off, check that the adapter is firmly seated and rated for at least 96W. The double-braided nylon jacket and 20000+ bend rating reduce fraying at stress points.

Questions about this item

Which MacBook models does the Magnetic 3 tip fit?

The Magnetic 3 connector fits MacBook Air 13-inch and 15-inch models plus MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch models that include a Magnetic 3 port, covering M1 through M5 generations.

What does the 140W rating mean when the cable is plugged into a MacBook?

It delivers up to 140W of USB PD 3.1 power when paired with a 96W or 140W USB-C adapter, enabling full-speed charging for compatible MacBook Pro models.

What interface does the cable use and what limits it in practice?

The cable uses a USB-C plug on the adapter side and a Magnetic 3 tip on the MacBook side; actual power is capped by the adapter’s PD 3.1 capability and the MacBook’s own charging circuit.
