Vehicle-Specific Backup Camera

This licence-plate camera fits Mercedes-Benz C, E, CLS, CLK, SLK and SL models with chassis codes W203, W209, W211, W219, R171, S211, R230 and C219. It replaces the original licence-plate light housing so installation uses the existing hole without drilling. The 170-degree lens covers a wide rear field for parking and reversing.

NTSC Composite Video Limits

The camera outputs an NTSC composite signal at 1.0 V p-p into 75 ohms, delivering 480 or 520 TV lines of resolution. A 1/4-inch colour sensor with a 5.78 × 4.19 mm sensing area feeds the image, and the signal-to-noise ratio exceeds 48 dB with AGC off. No digital or high-definition formats are supported.

Upgrade From Basic Parking Sensors

Drivers moving up from audible-only parking sensors gain a live colour picture with night-vision capability, letting them see obstacles, trailing traffic or children behind the vehicle. The jump is worthwhile when a visual reference is needed for tight spaces or when the factory head unit accepts a composite video feed.
