What the 10x42 monocular does

The AVer WYJ-0001 is a 10x magnification monocular with a 42 mm objective lens. It uses a BAK-4 prism and fully multi-coated optics to transmit more light. The nitrogen-purged body is waterproof and fogproof. A rubber armour coating adds grip and shock protection. It weighs 330 g and measures 0.5 in x 0.17 in x 0.16 in.

Thermals noise and power in normal use

This is a passive optical instrument with no electronics, so it generates no heat, makes no noise and draws no power. The nitrogen purge prevents internal fogging when temperatures change. The rubber armour insulates the metal frame against cold hands. Focus is adjusted manually with a single central wheel.

What the bundled accessories change

A smartphone adapter lets you attach a compatible phone to the eyepiece for digiscoping photos and video. A compact tripod and adapter provide a stable platform for long viewing sessions. A storage bag, neck strap, cleaning cloth and instruction manual complete the kit for immediate field use.

Questions about this item

How do I attach the included tripod adapter and what step do people often miss?

Screw the adapter into the threaded socket on the monocular body, then tighten the lock ring so the triangular stand cannot rotate during use.

Which parts will need replacement after extended outdoor use?

The rubber armor grip and the objective-lens cleaning cloth wear first; both are inexpensive to replace when they degrade.

At what magnification limit does hand shake make the 10x view unusable without the tripod?

At 10x magnification the image blurs from natural hand tremor after a few seconds; the tripod eliminates that limit.
