What this capture card does

The AVerMedia Live Gamer 4K GC573 is a PCI-Express x4 Gen 2 capture card that records 4Kp60 HDR gameplay and passes through 2160p60 HDR, 1440p144 or 1080p240 signals to a monitor. It targets streamers and content creators who need high-frame-rate recording from consoles or a second PC.

Recording formats and system needs

Video is encoded to MPEG 4 using H.264 or H.265 with AAC audio. H.265 and HDR recording require the bundled RECentral software. To capture 4Kp60 HDR or 1080p240 the host must run Windows 10 x64 on a Ryzen 5 1600 or Intel Core i5-6XXX class CPU with a GTX 1060 or better GPU and dual-channel 8 GB RAM.

The resolution and frame-rate ceiling

Maximum capture resolution is 2160p at 60 frames per second with HDR, while Full HD can be recorded at up to 240 frames per second. Passthrough mirrors those limits, so builders who need 4K at 144 Hz or 8K at any refresh rate cannot use this card.

Questions about this item

Which version of the Live Gamer 4K should I choose?

The GC573 is a single model with one PCIe x4 Gen 2 interface; there are no alternate versions or capacities to select.

What does 4Kp60 HDR mean once the card is in my PC?

It means you can capture and pass through 2160p60 HDR10 video from a console or GPU, provided your system meets the i5-6XXX or Ryzen 5 1600 plus GTX 1060 requirements.

What does the PCIe Gen2 x4 interface cap in practice?

The x4 Gen 2 link provides enough bandwidth for uncompressed 4Kp60 HDR passthrough and 1080p240 capture without saturating the bus.
