What this console server does

The Avocent ACS 8008MDAC-400 is an 8-port serial console server built for remote infrastructure management. It includes a built-in analog modem and dual AC power supplies for redundancy. A dual-core ARM processor with 16GB of flash memory handles automation scripting and zero-touch provisioning tasks.

Who benefits and who needs more

Network administrators managing up to eight serial devices at branch offices or data centres gain secure out-of-band access with automatic failover. Teams requiring more than eight managed ports or digital-only connectivity without analog fallback should consider higher-density or alternative models.

Capacity and headroom

Eight USB 2.0 ports connect serial equipment, IoT sensors and IT gear while digital I/O ports integrate environmental monitors. Dual gigabit Ethernet links provide network failover and in-band management. The 16GB flash stores automation scripts and logs, though very large script libraries or extensive local logging may exceed available space.
