Dual-port 10GBase-X SFP+ card with PCI Express 2.0 x8 host interface for optical fibre server connections
The Axiom 540-BBDR-AX is a dual-port network interface card built for servers that require 10GBase-X connectivity over optical fibre. It installs into a PCI Express 2.0 x8 slot and presents two SFP+ cages for compatible transceiver modules. This card targets administrators upgrading rack-mount or tower servers to 10 GbE links without changing existing fibre infrastructure.
The card uses a passive heatsink that fits within a 0.5 inch slot thickness, drawing power solely from the PCI Express bus. No onboard fan means silent operation inside noise-sensitive server rooms. Typical power draw remains within the PCIe 2.0 x8 envelope, so additional auxiliary power cables are not required for normal operation.
Measuring 6.5 inches by 2.7 inches, the plug-in card fits standard low-profile brackets in 1U and 2U chassis. Dual SFP+ ports allow link aggregation or separate uplink and downlink paths using LC duplex optics. Transceivers and patch cords are sold separately, so verify wavelength and reach requirements before deployment.

Insert the card into an available PCIe x8 or wider slot, secure the bracket, then plug compatible SFP+ optical transceivers into the two ports before cabling.
The card uses hot-swappable SFP+ modules; replace a transceiver if link errors appear or when upgrading to a different fiber type or reach.
The PCI Express 2.0 x8 host interface caps theoretical throughput at roughly 40 Gbit/s, so the two 10 Gbit/s ports can run line-rate simultaneously.
