Replacement battery for HP ProBook 4730s and 4740s

This Axiom notebook battery uses an eight-cell lithium-ion pack built to the original equipment specification. It fits the HP ProBook 4730s and 4740s series, replacing OEM part numbers QK647AA and QK647UT. The rechargeable unit is RoHS certified and marked as environmentally friendly.

Thermals and power draw in normal use

The lithium-ion chemistry delivers steady voltage across typical office workloads without generating excess heat. At approximately 15.04 oz the pack adds minimal weight to the chassis. Normal discharge cycles run cool and quiet, keeping fan activity low during everyday tasks.

Behaviour under sustained load

During extended sessions the eight-cell layout maintains consistent output longer than lower-capacity alternatives. Voltage remains stable through continuous discharge, reducing the chance of sudden throttling. The proprietary form factor locks securely in place, preventing connection loss when the notebook is moved while under heavy use.

Questions about this item

How do I install the QK647AA-AX battery in my ProBook 4730s?

Power off the notebook, slide the release latch, remove the old pack and insert the new 8-cell unit until it clicks; the step often missed is fully seating the lock so the battery does not rattle loose

What maintenance will this 15.04 oz Li-ion pack need later?

No scheduled maintenance is required; keep contacts clean, avoid deep discharges and store at roughly half charge if the notebook will be unused for weeks

What limit appears first during sustained use of this 10.4 inch wide battery?

Thermal limits of the lithium-ion cells; prolonged heavy loads raise internal temperature, triggering the notebook's throttle before the pack reaches its rated capacity
