Volkswagen wire harness compatibility

The Axxess AXTO-VW1 data interface connects an aftermarket radio to select Volkswagen models from 2002 to 2017. It supplies a 12-volt 10-amp accessory power feed and retains the factory Retained Accessory Power function. The harness works with both non-amplified and amplified audio systems and provides NAV outputs for parking brake, reverse, mute and speed sense signals. A pre-wired AXSWC harness is included for steering-wheel control integration, though the AXSWC module itself is sold separately.

Interface practical limits

The harness uses a high-level speaker input and a Micro-B USB port for firmware updates. It is designed only for ISO double-DIN dashboard openings in the listed vehicles, so single-DIN or non-ISO installations are not supported. The accessory power output is capped at 10 amps, limiting the current available to the new radio. Steering-wheel controls require the separate AXSWC module, which is not included in the package.

Pre-installation checks

Confirm that your Volkswagen model and year appear in the fitment list, which covers Beetle 2012-2015, CC 2009-2017, EOS 2007-2016, Golf and GTI variants from 2002 to 2014, Jetta and Jetta SportWagen 2002-2015, Passat 2002-2015, Rabbit 2007-2009 and Tiguan 2009-2015. Verify the factory radio opening is an ISO double-DIN size and decide whether you need the optional AXSWC module for steering-wheel button retention.
