40.5mm UV Haze Filter
The B+W Basic 010M is a 40.5mm UV Haze MRC filter designed for photographers who want clearer images and permanent front-lens protection. It suits both analog and digital cameras, making it a versatile choice for everyday shooting.
Multi-Resistant Coating
The MRC coating delivers extremely low reflection and high transparency, so contrast stays strong even in bright conditions. Its slim mount threads onto 40.5mm filter threads and can remain on the lens as a barrier against dust, sand, fingerprints and splashing water.
UV Blocking Limits
The filter removes the UV component of daylight that causes haze and a blueish cast, especially at high altitude or near the sea. It does not affect visible-light colour balance and requires no exposure compensation, but it cannot reduce glare from non-metallic surfaces or deepen blue skies like a polariser.

Questions about this item
What filter thread size does the 40.5mm Basic 010M UV Haze MRC Filter fit?
It screws onto any lens with a 40.5 mm front thread, which is printed on the barrel or listed in the lens specifications.
How thick is the filter frame, and will it vignette on wide-angle lenses?
The Basic series uses a slim brass ring that adds roughly 5 mm, so vignetting only appears at the very widest focal lengths on APS-C or full-frame lenses.
Which side of the MRC coating faces the scene during installation?
The coated surface is on the outer glass face; hold the filter by its rim, align the threads, and turn clockwise until snug — do not force it past the first point of resistance.
