Prism Diagonal for Telescopes

The Baader Planetarium Prism Diagonal uses a 32 mm aperture prism to redirect the light path by 90 degrees. It accepts a T-2 internal thread on the telescope side and provides a T-2 external thread on the eyepiece side. A 1.25 inch eyepiece holder and a matching 1.25 inch nosepiece are included for direct attachment.

Suited for visual astronomy

Observers who want a comfortable right-angle viewing position at high altitudes will benefit from the 90 degree deflection. The short optical path keeps the setup compact. Buyers who require a larger clear aperture or a different thread standard should look at other diagonals.

Consistent image quality during long sessions

The precision prism minimises light scatter and maintains contrast throughout extended observing periods. Mechanical stability of the T-2 threads prevents shift even when heavier eyepieces or binoviewers are attached. The optical coatings preserve transmission without degradation over time.

Questions about this item

Which telescope thread is required on the focuser side to attach the T-2 internal thread of this diagonal?

The objective side has a T-2 internal thread, so your telescope or focuser must provide a matching T-2 external thread for a direct connection.

Will my existing 1.25" eyepieces fit the eyepiece holder supplied with this diagonal?

Yes, the included 1.25" eyepiece holder accepts standard 1.25" barrel eyepieces, so any you already own will slide in and lock securely.

How can I confirm the 90-degree prism is delivering the stated 32mm clear aperture after installation?

Point the telescope at a bright star; a sharp, round Airy pattern with no vignetting at the field edge shows the full 32mm aperture is being transmitted.
