13 gallon compostable drawstring bags

These 13 gallon compostable drawstring bags hold 49.2 liters of kitchen waste and come in a 30 count roll. They measure 25.2 in by 25.6 in with a 1 mil thickness for tear free performance. The bags carry BPI, Seedling and OK compost INDUSTRIAL certifications meeting ASTM D6400 and EN 13432 standards. They are designed for commercial composting facilities only.

Replaces conventional plastic kitchen bags

Switching from standard polyethylene bags is worth it when your municipality or workplace provides access to commercial composting. The certified compostable material breaks down under industrial conditions but will not degrade in home compost piles or landfill. Buyers without local commercial composting infrastructure cannot use these bags as intended.

Simple drawstring closure

Installation consists of placing the bag in a 13 gallon can and pulling the drawstring to secure it. The most common issue is storing the roll in heat or humidity which reduces the roughly one year shelf life. Once filled with organic waste the bag should be disposed of within three days, especially if contents are strongly acidic or alkaline.

Questions about this item

What bin dimensions do the 25.2 in x 25.6 in bags fit?

The bags measure 25.2 in by 25.6 in and are designed for standard 13 gallon kitchen bins with matching rim circumference.

How do I open and secure the drawstring without tearing the 1 mil film?

Gently pull both drawstring cords evenly to gather the neck, then tie a single knot; avoid yanking one side which can split the thin compostable material.

When must I replace a bag that holds acidic food scraps?

Dispose of the bag within 3 days when it contains organic waste with strong acidic or alkaline content to prevent premature breakdown.
