Kitchen counter compost bin liners

These 2.6 gallon bags measure 16 inches by 17 inches and come in a 100 count pack. They are designed to securely line most kitchen composting pails and keep buckets clean. Made in the USA with plant-based resin imported from Italy, they support home composting habits. The white bags are 0.64 mil thick and ship in frustration-free packaging.

BPI certified to ASTM D6400 standards

The single specification that decides suitability is the BPI certification confirming the bags meet ASTM D6400 standards for compostability. This certifies they will break down in commercial and backyard composting systems. They are also Compost Manufacturing Alliance approved. Unlike regular plastic, the material is consumed by soil micro-organisms. The part number is 187222.

Home composting thermal breakdown

In normal use the bags begin to break down when exposed to the heat, moisture and micro-organisms of an active compost pile. They contain vegetable oils and compostable polymers derived from plant starches rather than conventional plastic. The supplier notes a shelf life of about one year from the production date printed on each bag. Store them cool and dry until ready for food scrap collection.
