Two-pack medical battery for Welch Allyn devices

This 2-pack supplies 3.5 V nickel-cadmium cells rated at 750 mAh each. They are built as direct replacements for the Welch Allyn 72300, 71000-A, 71000-C, 71020-A, 71020-C and 710171-501 part numbers. Clinics and biomedical technicians use them to keep diagnostic instruments powered between charges.

Steady output during long examinations

Ni-Cd chemistry delivers a stable 3.6 V nominal voltage throughout the discharge curve, so otoscopes and ophthalmoscopes maintain consistent illumination during extended patient sessions. The 750 mAh capacity supports multiple routine exams before recharging is required, and the cells tolerate repeated deep-cycle use typical in medical environments.

Drop-in replacement with polarity care

Each cell matches the original form factor, so installation is a simple battery-door swap on compatible Welch Allyn handles. The only common issue is reversed insertion; the positive and negative terminals must align exactly with the device markings to avoid a no-power condition. No soldering or firmware steps are involved.

Questions about this item

Will the 3.6V Ni-Cd cells heat up during all-day use in a Welch Allyn 71000?

Ni-Cd chemistry runs cool at the 750 mAh rating, so the pack stays at safe temperatures during continuous operation.

Must I already own a Welch Allyn charger base for the 72300 pack to recharge?

Yes, the 3.6V Ni-Cd cells require the original Welch Allyn charging cradle; no charger is included in the 2-pack.

Can the 72300 pack replace the older 710171-501 battery in my existing handle?

The pack is 100 % compatible with the 710171-501 and all listed 71000 and 71020 models, so it fits directly.
