Questions about this item

How often will the 3.6 V NiCD battery need replacement under daily clinical use?

The NiCD chemistry is rated for hundreds of charge cycles; with regular overnight charging it typically lasts two to three years before capacity drops below useful levels.

What runtime limit appears first during a long examination session?

The 3.6 V NiCD cell delivers steady voltage until near full discharge, so the practical limit is total ampere-hour capacity rather than voltage sag.

Does the 70.6 mm × 25.4 mm handle warm up during continuous all-day operation?

NiCD cells generate minimal heat at the low currents an otoscope draws, so the handle remains near ambient temperature even after hours of use.
