HM-98S speaker microphone for ICOM mobile radios

The HM-98S speaker microphone connects to compatible ICOM mobile transceivers using an 8-pin plug. It provides a 25-key keypad for direct frequency entry and memory control from the handset. The unit is intended for operators who want full front-panel control without reaching the radio body.

Compatibility check before ordering

Verify that your radio is an IC-2100H, IC-2710H or IC-2800H and that it uses the 8-pin microphone connector. Confirm the microphone jack on the radio matches the plug on this handset. No adapter is included, so the connector must match directly.

Replaces a standard hand microphone

This microphone upgrades from a basic hand microphone that lacks a keypad. The jump is worth it when you need to change frequencies, access memories or adjust settings while the radio is mounted out of reach. It is not for operators who only need simple push-to-talk operation.

Questions about this item

What comes in the box with the HM-98S speaker microphone and what must I buy separately?

The HM-98S speaker microphone with 25 keys and an 8-pin connector is included. The compatible ICOM IC-2100H, IC-2710H or IC-2800H mobile radio must be purchased separately.

Which HM-98S version should I choose for my ICOM radio model?

This single HM-98S version works with the IC-2100H, IC-2710H and IC-2800H. Choose it if you own any of those three models.

How does the 6-foot drop rating affect real-world use in a vehicle?

The microphone survives six drops from six feet on all sides, so it withstands vibration and accidental knocks during mobile operation.
