8MP Sony IMX219 Camera Module
This 8-megapixel camera module uses a Sony IMX219 sensor for Raspberry Pi boards. It captures still images and records video at 1080p30, 720p60 and VGA90. The module connects via a 15cm ribbon cable to the CSI port. It is compatible with Raspberry Pi 1, 2, 3 and 4 models and supports MMAL and V4L APIs.
Check CSI Port and Cable Fit
Verify your Raspberry Pi board has a standard CSI connector before ordering. The included 15cm ribbon cable fits full-size Pi boards directly. Raspberry Pi Zero models require a different, specific camera cable that is not supplied with this module. Ensure the cable length suits your enclosure or mounting plan.
Upgrade from 5MP OV5647 Sensor
This module replaces the original 5-megapixel OmniVision OV5647 camera. The jump is worth it when you need higher resolution stills, better colour fidelity and improved low-light performance. It also adds 720p60 and VGA90 video modes for smoother motion capture. Buyers needing motorised focus or infrared sensitivity should look elsewhere.
