1/4" Galvanized Steel Pipe Nipple
This 1/4 inch nominal pipe size nipple is made from Grade B steel with a galvanized finish. It features male NPT threads on both ends and a 7 inch overall length. The welded construction suits air, gases, non-potable water and oil lines.
Schedule 40 wall for standard pressure needs
The Schedule 40 wall provides a 150 psi rating at 150 degrees Fahrenheit. It upgrades from lighter wall pipe when higher pressure containment is required. The jump is worth it for systems operating near the 150 psi limit where thinner walls would be insufficient.
23/64 inch bore with 35/64 inch outside diameter
The 23/64 inch inside diameter handles moderate flow rates for quarter-inch plumbing. Headroom exists for typical air, gas and oil distribution tasks. It runs out when flow demands exceed the bore capacity or when potable water service is needed.

Questions about this item
What thread size does the 1/4 inch MNPT nipple need to mate with?
The nipple has 1/4 inch male NPT threads, so it requires a matching 1/4 inch female NPT fitting for a sealed connection.
How should the 7 inch galvanized nipple be installed to avoid leaks?
Apply PTFE tape or pipe dope on the male threads, hand-tighten, then turn one to two full turns with a wrench; over-tightening cracks the galvanized coating.
When will the galvanized coating on this Schedule 40 nipple need replacement?
In non-potable water or air service at 150 psi and 150 °F, the zinc layer typically lasts years; replace the nipple once white rust appears or threads show corrosion.
