Belkin DS-UC1B USB-C SATA Docking Station

The Belkin DS-UC1B is a USB-C SATA docking station that accepts both 2.5 and 3.5 inch SATA SSDs and HDDs. It connects via a 10Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2x1 interface and supports drives up to 20TB capacity. The tool-less bay includes a retractable dust cover for connector protection. It is designed for users needing quick, driver-free access to bare SATA drives for backup or data transfer.

Included cables and power adapter

The package provides both USB-A and USB-C to USB-C cables for host connectivity across different port types. An external power adapter is included to ensure stable operation for 3.5 inch drives that require more power than the bus can supply. These accessories remove the need for separate purchases and enable immediate plug-and-play use with Windows or Mac systems.

SATA interface and USB backward compatibility

The dock's SATA interface supports speeds up to 6Gbps, while the USB 3.2 Gen 2x1 host link runs at 10Gbps, so the SATA bus remains the throughput ceiling. The connection is backward compatible with 5Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 1x1 and 480Mbps USB 2.0 ports, but transfer rates will drop to the host port's maximum. Drives using the older 1.5Gbps SATA standard will operate at their native speed limit.

Questions about this item

Does the 20TB drive bay require any periodic cleaning?

The retractable dust cover protects the SATA connector when no drive is inserted.

Will the 10Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2x1 link become the bottleneck during long transfers?

SATA 6Gbps drives top out below the 10Gbps interface, so the dock does not limit sustained speed.

How hot does the enclosure get when a 3.5-inch drive runs all day?

The plastic chassis relies on passive airflow; it stays warm but within normal operating limits.
