Freshwater Monofilament Line

Berkley Trilene XL is a clear monofilament line built for freshwater anglers who want reliable knot strength and low visibility. The 8 lb test rating and 330 yd spool give enough length for long casts and repeated re-ties without frequent refills.

Spooling and Handling

The supple construction resists twists and kinks so it lays evenly on the reel and feeds cleanly through guides. Over-filling the spool or storing it in direct heat can introduce memory coils that affect casting distance.

Capacity and Limits

Diameter of .010 in | .25 mm and break strength of 8 lb | 3.6 kg handle panfish, trout and light bass presentations with comfortable headroom. The line reaches its limit when targeting larger species or heavy cover that demand 30 lb test or thicker diameters.

Questions about this item

How do I know the 8lb test line is performing correctly after spooling?

Check that the clear mono casts smoothly without twists or kinks and that the 3.6 kg break strength holds during hook sets in freshwater.

What comes in the package and what must I purchase separately?

The box contains the 330 yd spool of 0.25 mm diameter monofilament; you will need to supply your own rod, reel, terminal tackle and any leader material.

Which break strength should I choose from the 2 lb to 30 lb range?

Select the 8 lb version when you want a 0.010 in diameter line that balances manageability and power for typical freshwater species.
