Purpose & User

The Bessey STC-HH70 is a horizontal toggle clamp rated for 700 lbf holding capacity. It suits metalworking, welding and woodworking tasks where a flange-mounted, auto-adjust clamp secures workpieces quickly.

Upgrade Path

It replaces manual clamps that require re-setting for each thickness change. The auto-adjust mechanism accommodates workpiece variation without adjustment, making the jump worthwhile for repetitive setups or mixed-material batches.

Install & Pitfalls

Flange base mounts with standard bolts on any flat fixture. The 180-degree arm swing needs clear swing radius; the removable polyethylene tip prevents marring but can be lost if not seated firmly.

Questions about this item

What base mounting style and overall depth does the STC-HH70 need to fit?

The clamp uses a flange base mounting style and has an overall depth of 2.38 in, so the mounting surface must accommodate that footprint.

How is the clamp installed and what step is often missed?

Bolt the flange base to the work surface, then fit the removable polyethylene pressure pad onto the U-bar tip before clamping to avoid marring the workpiece.

What maintenance or replacement will the STC-HH70 need later?

The removable non-marring polyethylene pressure pad on the U-bar tip will wear and should be replaced periodically to protect workpiece surfaces.
