Magnetic welding square holds workpieces at 45 and 90 degrees with 112 lb pull force
The Bessey WMS-5 is a magnetic welding square rated for a maximum pull of 112 lb. It holds workpieces at fixed 45 and 90 degree angles for fabrication tasks. The steel housing contains rare earth and ferrite magnets. A 1/4 in center hole allows accessory attachment.
As a passive hand tool the WMS-5 generates no heat and produces no noise during use. It requires no electrical power or compressed air supply. Magnetic force is permanently active without a switch mechanism. Performance depends only on clean contact surfaces.
The square measures 3.8 in overall length and 4.4 in overall width with a height of .8 in. Plate thickness is .75 in for rigid alignment. It fits between workpieces where larger fixtures cannot reach. Users needing adjustable angles or switched magnetic control will require a different device.

Place the square so the internal 45-degree and 90-degree angles align the joint, then press the rare-earth magnets against clean steel; the step often missed is removing every speck of spatter or oil first, because the 112 lb pull drops sharply on contaminated surfaces.
Wipe the magnet faces and the .75 in thick steel housing after each job to stop rust and spatter build-up; the rare-earth and ferrite magnets are permanent and do not require recharging, but the 1/4 in center hole threads should stay clear for optional fixturing.
The 112 lb maximum pull is reached first when heat expands the joint or when welding thick plate that exerts leverage on the 3.8 in by 4.4 in footprint; beyond that the square can shift, so plan clamp spacing accordingly.
