Product identity

Bethesda Softworks Fallout 4 is a single-player open-world RPG for PC. It suits players who want a post-apocalyptic sandbox with deep character progression and settlement building. It is not for buyers who want a multiplayer experience or a competitive shooter.

Deciding specification

The game requires a 64-bit Windows 7, 8 or 10 operating system. Minimum CPU needs are an Intel Core i5-2300 at 2.8 GHz or an AMD Phenom II X4 945 at 3.0 GHz. You also need 8 GB RAM, 30 GB free HDD space and a GTX 550 Ti 2GB or Radeon HD 7870 2GB graphics card.

Installation notes

The retail package installs from disc and activates via the Bethesda launcher or Steam. A broadband connection is required for the initial download and subsequent updates. Common issues include outdated GPU drivers causing crashes and insufficient free space blocking the install.

Questions about this item

Will 30 GB free space be enough once Windows and updates are installed?

The minimum requirement lists 30 GB free HDD space; additional room is needed for the operating system, patches and any mods you add.

Does the GTX 550 Ti 2GB requirement mean the game will not launch on older cards?

The spec calls for a GTX 550 Ti 2GB or Radeon HD 7870 2GB equivalent; cards below that level may run but are not supported.

Is the retail package a DVD disc or a download code for PC?

The product is listed as Retail packaging, which for this title typically includes a disc and a Steam activation code.
