Bethesda Softworks G7Q-00367 Doom: The Dark Ages Standard Edition downloadable game

Medieval DOOM prequel for action fans

This downloadable game places players in the boots of the DOOM Slayer during a dark medieval war against Hell. It serves as the prequel to the 2016 reboot and its sequel, delivering a single-player action adventure built on the latest idTech engine. The digital code activates on Xbox Series X|S and Windows in the US region only.

Upgrade from earlier DOOM entries

Players moving on from the 2016 release or DOOM Eternal will find a new origin story with distinct medieval weaponry and settings. The jump is worth it for those wanting a fresh narrative chapter that expands the Slayer’s lore rather than repeating the same futuristic corridors. A customizable difficulty system also smooths the transition for newcomers.

Sustained single-player campaign pacing

The experience is designed around a story-driven campaign rather than short arena bursts or multiplayer matches. Combat encounters and exploration unfold across extended levels that test resource management and mastery of new medieval tools over many hours. Buyers seeking competitive modes, co-op play, or endless replayable loops will not find those here.
