2.5" to 3.5" Server Drive Adapter
This adapter combo includes a 3.5" drive tray and a 2.5" to 3.5" converter for Dell PowerEdge T330 and other T&R series servers. It lets you install a 2.5" SATA or SAS SSD into a 3.5" hot-swap drive cage. The tray uses the KG1CH and 9W8C4 form factors for direct compatibility.
Upgrade from fixed 3.5" drives
The kit replaces a standard 3.5" drive carrier so you can use faster or denser 2.5" solid-state drives in the same bay. The jump is worth it when you need SSD performance or lower power draw in a server that only accepts 3.5" hot-swap trays. It supports PowerEdge R310, R320, R410, R415, R510, R515, R710, R420, R520, R720 and R720xd models with 3.5" cages.
Tool-free tray installation
The adapter seats inside the 3.5" tray and the assembly slides into the hot-swap cage without tools. Alignment pins on the KG1CH tray match the server chassis guides. What usually goes wrong is inserting the 2.5" drive upside down or leaving the adapter loose, which prevents the tray from locking securely.

Questions about this item
Does the 3.5" KG1CH tray fit the hotswap cage in a Dell PowerEdge T330?
The KG1CH tray is built for Dell servers that use a 3.5" hotswap drive cage, and the T330 is listed among the compatible models.
Which way does the 9W8C4 adapter sit inside the tray when I mount a 2.5" SATA or SAS drive?
Slide the 2.5" drive into the 9W8C4 adapter, secure it with the adapter screws, then insert the whole assembly into the KG1CH tray so the connector faces the backplane.
Will I need a different tray or adapter if I later swap the 2.5" drive for a 3.5" SATA or SAS drive?
No. Remove the 9W8C4 adapter and mount the 3.5" drive directly into the same KG1CH tray.
