5.25 Inch Front Panel Hub
This 5.25 inch front panel fits a standard drive bay and adds connectivity to a desktop PC. It provides two USB 3.0 ports, six USB 2.0 ports, one e-SATA port, one SATA port, audio jacks and a multi-format card reader. The unit draws power from a 4 pin IDE or DC 12 V connector and includes a 12 V / 5 V output. It is suited for builders who want front-access ports without using rear I/O.
Who This Suits And Who It Does Not
It suits users who need multiple legacy and current USB ports, an external SATA link and an internal SATA connection at the front of the case. The card reader handles SD, MMC, CF, MS, TF and M2 media but reads only one card at a time. It is not for buyers who require simultaneous multi-card access or more than two USB 3.0 ports. The 4 pin power connector must be inserted in the correct orientation to avoid a short circuit.
Deciding Specification
The single specification that decides fit is the 5.25 inch bay requirement; the panel only mounts in a full-size optical drive opening. Transfer rates are 5.0 Gbps for USB 3.0, 480 Mbps for USB 2.0, 3.0 Gbps for e-SATA and 1.5 Gbps for the internal SATA port. If the chassis lacks a 5.25 inch bay, this panel cannot be installed.
