Purpose and User
The BFKK Digital Thickness Gauge measures flat materials from 0 to 12.7mm with 0.001mm resolution. It is built for printing press operators, quality inspectors and technicians who need repeatable readings on paper, film or thin sheet metal. The 28mm throat depth lets the contact plates reach past edges. A spring-loaded thumb trigger applies constant pressure so results do not depend on hand force.
Measurement Limits
The instrument reads to one micrometre across a 12.7mm span, which is the practical ceiling for this class of handheld gauge. Resolution does not guarantee accuracy on surfaces that flex under the contact plates, so very soft or compressible sheets may show variation. The LCD switches between millimetres and inches with one button, but the display does not output data to external devices. Battery life depends on the included LR44 cell.
Upgrade Context
This tool replaces mechanical dial gauges that require zero setting and operator feel to achieve consistent pressure. The jump is worth it when a shop records dozens of readings per shift and needs to eliminate thumb-pressure error. It does not suit users who must measure thicknesses above 12.7mm or who require statistical process control output. The padded hard case and spare battery support daily bench use.

Questions about this item
Should I pick the 12.7mm range or the .5 inch range for my work?
The gauge measures both units simultaneously; a single button switches the display between millimetres and inches without resetting, so you do not need to choose one range over the other.
What does the 0.001mm resolution actually deliver when I measure paper or film?
It shows changes down to one micrometre, letting you see thickness differences in ultra-thin materials such as paper, film or even a single hair.
How does the constant spring tension affect repeatable readings?
The thumb trigger applies the same spring force every time, removing the variation caused by hand pressure and giving consistent results across repeated checks.
