SKU CH-09KB-P79NB

Converts single-mode fibre at 1310 nm to Gigabit Ethernet over distances up to 20 km

  • Gigabit Ethernet over fibre up to 20 km
  • Single-mode dual SC link at 1310 nm wavelength
  • RJ45 port auto-negotiates 10/100/1000 Mbps speeds
  • LED panel shows link and activity status instantly
  • Plug-and-play install compliant with IEEE 802.3 standards

Dual SC Fiber Converter for Long-Range Links

The BFKK media converter bridges single-mode dual SC fiber at 1310 nm to a Gigabit RJ45 port. It supports distances up to 20 km and complies with IEEE 802.3 standards for reliable Ethernet extension.

Suited for Campus or Metro Fiber Runs

Network operators needing to convert fiber backbone links to copper drops will find the 20 km reach and 9K jumbo frame support useful. Installations requiring multimode fiber, SFP modularity, or Power over Ethernet should consider other solutions.

Handles 1 Gbps Over 20 km Single-Mode

The converter delivers full-duplex 1000 Mbps throughput across the rated distance with auto-negotiation down to 10 or 100 Mbps. Beyond 20 km or on multimode infrastructure the link will not operate.

Questions about this item

What type of single-mode fiber patch cable with dual SC connectors is required to link the converter at 1310 nm over 20 km?

A single-mode duplex SC patch cord rated for 1310 nm wavelength and at least 20 km reach is needed to connect the dual SC ports.

Will the RJ45 port negotiate down to 10 Mbps half-duplex if connected to a legacy 10BASE-T device?

Yes, the port is downward compatible with 10/100 Mbps and supports half-duplex operation with MDI/MDI-X auto crossover.

Which LED indicators should be lit to confirm the converter is passing gigabit traffic after power-up?

Power LED on, FX Link/Act solid for fiber link, and TX Link/Act blinking at 1000 Mbps rate show normal operation.
