Retro Grey XDA PBT Keycaps

This 139-key set uses double-shot PBT material with dye-sublimated legends that resist wear, water and dust. The uniform XDA profile gives every key the same height and a larger finger contact area. It suits mechanical keyboards with Gateron MX-compatible switches and supports common 61, 64, 68, 75, 84, 87, 96, 98, 100, 104 and 108 layouts. Both 6.25U and 7U space bars are included for broader fit.

Thermals Noise Power

Keycaps generate no heat, draw no power and have no moving parts, so they add nothing to system thermals or acoustic output. The PBT texture stays dry and resists oil buildup during long typing sessions. No active cooling or electrical consideration is required for this accessory.

Sustained Load Behaviour

Under continuous typing the legends remain legible because the dye-sub process embeds them below the surface. The consistent XDA height keeps finger travel uniform across the board, reducing stretch over extended use. PBT material does not develop shine as quickly as ABS, preserving feel over time. Buyers needing backlight shine-through or non-MX stem compatibility should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 139 keycaps on a 75 percent board and which step is often missed?

Pull off the old caps, match each legend to the 75 percent layout, press the 6.25U or 7U space bar onto the correct stabilisers, then seat every remaining cap; the step most people skip is verifying the 35 modifier keys against their specific row before pressing them down.

What maintenance will these PBT keycaps need over time?

Wipe the dye-sub legends with a damp microfibre cloth when they look dirty; PBT resists shine and oil so no coating or lubricant is required and the legends will not wear away.

What limit appears first during long typing sessions with the uniform XDA profile?

The flat, uniform height means every row feels identical, so the first limit is finger fatigue from the lack of sculpted rows rather than any material or legend degradation.
