Universal 5 V power cable for low-voltage devices

This USB-to-DC cable delivers 5 V at up to 3 A through a 5.5×2.1 mm barrel plug with positive centre. The 1.5 m lead includes ten interchangeable tips covering Micro USB, Type-C, Mini USB and barrel sizes from 2.5×0.7 mm up to 5.5×2.5 mm. It powers hubs, fans, LED strips, cameras, routers, audio gear and similar 5 V equipment from any standard USB port.

Replaces fixed-tip wall warts

Instead of keeping a separate charger for each gadget, one cable with the supplied tip set covers the most common barrel and USB connectors found on consumer electronics. The swap is worthwhile when a device draws 5 V at 3 A or less and its original supply is lost, damaged or inconveniently bulky. Devices requiring more than 3 A or a voltage other than 5 V cannot use this cable.

Limited to USB port current capability

The cable itself supports 3 A, but the actual current is capped by the host USB port, which often provides less than 3 A on older sockets. Voltage drop over the 1.5 m run also rises with load, so high-draw devices at the far end may see reduced voltage. The cable does not negotiate higher voltages or support data transfer.
