Fast Ethernet Media Converter

The Black Box LHC211A converts 10/100Base-TX twisted-pair signals to 100Base-FX multi-mode fibre. It provides a single RJ-45 port and one duplex SC connector in a standalone enclosure powered by an included AC adapter.

Multi-mode Fibre Reach

The module operates at 1310 nm over 50/125 µm or 62.5/125 µm fibre with a maximum distance of 1.24 miles. This reach figure decides whether the link span fits the installation.

Installers Extending Copper Segments

Suited for technicians who need to bridge copper runs beyond 100 metres using existing multi-mode infrastructure. Not for networks requiring gigabit speeds, single-mode fibre or managed switching features.

Questions about this item

What does 10/100Base-TX and 100Base-FX mean for actual network speed?

The module links a 10 or 100 Mbps copper port to a 100 Mbps fibre port, so the connection runs at Fast Ethernet rates in both directions.

What does the SC duplex multi-mode interface limit in practice?

The SC duplex connector works with 50/125 µm or 62.5/125 µm multi-mode fibre at 1310 nm, giving a maximum reach of 1.24 miles.

How much space does the 1-inch high standalone unit need on a desk or shelf?

It measures 3.7 inches wide by 2.7 inches deep and weighs 11.20 oz, so it fits on any flat surface near an AC outlet.
