The Black Box SW1030A is a manual Ethernet switch with three 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports. It connects up to three 10GBase-T links in a single chassis. Network teams use it to route traffic between servers, storage arrays or uplink ports without software configuration. It suits environments that need a simple, physical path change rather than a managed fabric.

Three 10GBase-T ports and where capacity ends

Three primary ports give three simultaneous 10GBase-T connections. Each port handles a full 10 Gbps link, so aggregate throughput depends on how many ports are active at once. The switch runs out of ports when a fourth 10G device must join the same manual segment; there are no extra ports for expansion or cascading within this unit.

Manual operation limits in a 10GBase-T environment

Because the switch is manual, every path change requires physical intervention at the unit. There is no remote management, VLAN support, link aggregation or port mirroring. Latency is limited to the 10GBase-T standard, but the lack of automation makes it unsuitable for networks that need dynamic failover, monitoring or scripted reconfiguration.
