The Blackmagic Design SmartView Duo fits two independent 800 x 480 LCD panels into a 1 RU chassis for post-production, broadcast and live-event monitoring. Each screen handles SD, HD and 3G-SDI formats with automatic switching and reclocked loop-through output. It is built for engineers who need simultaneous confidence monitoring of multiple sources in a compact rack space. Operators who require 4K or HDR preview cannot use this unit.

SDI connectivity and network control

Dual SDI inputs accept standards from SMPTE 259M through SMPTE 425M with 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 sampling in REC 601 or REC 709 colour space. A 10/100 BaseT Ethernet port with loop-through enables remote configuration via SmartView Utility, while a USB 2.0 port provides an alternative update path. The 9-pin D-sub tally/GPI interface ties into switcher tally systems. Builds without SDI routing infrastructure or without a 12 V power source cannot integrate this monitor.

Included firmware tools and power kit

Firmware updater software ships with the unit for internal upgrades over USB or Ethernet. A universal 12 V supply with international socket adapters powers the monitor at under 20 W. No mounting rails, SDI cables or tally wiring are supplied, so installers must provide rack hardware and signal cabling separately. Users who expect a complete turnkey kit with cables included will need to source those items elsewhere.
