Bogen SLC Volume Control — what it does
The Bogen SLC is a passive signal-level controller that lets an installer adjust the volume of up to 150 self-amplified speakers from a single wall-plate location. It is intended for commercial audio systems where centralised level management is required without adding power supplies.
Thermals, noise and power draw
Because the unit is completely passive it draws no DC power, generates no heat and adds no fan or transformer noise to the installation. The only electrical activity is the audio signal passing through the terminal-strip connections.
What the bundled hardware changes
The stainless-steel wall plate with engraved lettering mounts in a standard single-gang electrical box and provides clearly labelled terminal strips for quick, secure wiring. No external power supply, software or configuration utility is included or required.

Questions about this item
How is the Bogen SLC Volume Control mounted and what wiring step is often missed?
It fits a single-gang electrical box and uses a terminal strip for secure connections; the step often missed is tightening every terminal screw so the speaker loop stays reliable.
What maintenance will the stainless steel plate and passive circuitry need over time?
The engraved stainless plate only needs occasional cleaning, and the passive design has no power supply or batteries to replace.
At what speaker count does the volume control reach its rated limit during continuous paging?
The unit is rated for up to 150 self-amplified speakers; exceeding that load is the first limit reached under sustained use.
