Adds second drive via optical bay

This caddy tray converts a 9.5 mm optical drive slot into a bay for a 2.5 inch SATA SSD or HDD. It fits 12.7 mm, 9.5 mm and 7 mm high drive slots and supports SATA III, II and I speeds up to 6Gps. The aluminium alloy body dissipates heat and secures the drive with four screws. Hot-swap capability lets you change drives without powering down.

Suits Unibody MacBook Pro owners

Owners of Unibody MacBook Pro 13, 15 and 17 models from late 2008 through 2010 can add a second internal drive while keeping the original boot drive. Builders whose laptops lack an internal optical drive or who need a 3.5 inch drive bay cannot use this adapter. Users requiring an M.2 slot or a different drive interface should look elsewhere.

9.5 mm optical-slot height

The critical fitment is the 9.5 mm optical drive bay height; the tray also accommodates 12.7 mm and 7 mm slots. If the laptop’s optical bay uses a different height or a slot-loading mechanism, the caddy will not install correctly.
