Two-port serial adapter

This PCI Express card adds two DB9 RS232 ports to a desktop system through a single lane slot. It targets technicians and integrators who must connect legacy serial instruments, industrial controllers or point-of-sale hardware to modern motherboards. Low-profile brackets are included for compact chassis installations.

Thermals noise and power

The adapter draws minimal power from the PCI Express bus and operates without active cooling. Passive operation keeps acoustic output at zero while maintaining stable communication up to the specified baud rates. No external power connector is required for normal use.

Bundled software and accessories

A driver CD and printed manual support installation on Windows 98 through Windows 7, 32-bit Server 2000 and 2003, Linux kernels 2.4 and 2.6, and Mac OS 10.4 or later. The low-profile bracket swaps directly for the standard bracket so the card fits slim enclosures without modification. Buyers who need more than two serial ports or USB-based serial conversion will not be served by this card.

Questions about this item

How do I install this PCI Express serial card in a low-profile chassis and which bracket should I use?

Fit the card into an open PCIe slot, then swap the standard bracket for the included low-profile bracket so the two DB9 ports align with the chassis cut-out.

What ongoing maintenance does the adapter require once it is running?

No scheduled maintenance is needed; the card has no moving parts and the driver CD supplies the only software updates required.

At what sustained data rate does the on-board FIFO buffer become the limiting factor?

The 256-byte FIFO supports continuous throughput up to 115200 bps per port before flow control engages.
