IDE-to-SATA bridge for legacy drives

This 39-pin adapter converts 3.5-inch IDE and PATA hard disks, optical drives and burners to a standard SATA interface. It plugs directly into a motherboard SATA port and works with recorder hard disks without extra drivers. The board uses a double-layer PCB and measures 6 by 2.2 cm.

Replaces internal IDE cables and motherboard headers

The card lets you keep using an existing 3.5-inch IDE drive when the host system no longer provides an IDE connector. It supports drives up to 1000G and is compatible with SATA 1, SATA 2 and SATA 3 generations. The upgrade is worthwhile when you need to migrate data or reuse a working drive on newer hardware.

Fits tight drive bays and frees a SATA port

The compact PCB sits on the drive’s 39-pin connector and requires only a single SATA data and power cable from the motherboard. The IDE device must be jumpered to the MASTER position for correct operation. No additional drivers or software are needed, leaving the operating system to recognise the drive immediately.

Questions about this item

How large is the 39-pin adapter board?

The PCB measures 6 by 2.2 cm, so it fits inside most 3.5-inch drive bays without blocking adjacent connectors.

What jumper setting is required before plugging the IDE drive into the converter?

Set the drive jumper to MASTER; the adapter will not recognise the device if it is left in slave or cable-select mode.

Does the 1000 GB capacity limit mean I must replace the drive after a certain time?

No, the limit is a hardware addressing ceiling — any IDE drive up to that size works indefinitely, and the board itself has no wear-out components.
