5.25 Bay Front Panel Hub

This 5.25 inch bay device adds a front-panel media dashboard to a desktop PC. It combines USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports, eSATA and SATA connectors, audio jacks and an all-in-one card reader in a single ABS housing. The unit draws power through a 4 pin IDE or DC 12V connection and fits standard drive bays. It is built for system builders who want external connectivity without opening the case.

Interface Speed Limits

USB 3.0 ports reach 5.0 Gbps while USB 2.0 ports reach 480 Mbps. The eSATA interface runs at 3.0 Gbps and the internal SATA port at 1.5 Gbps. The card reader accepts SD, MMC, CF, MS, TF and M2 media but reads only one card at a time. Builders needing faster SATA throughput or simultaneous multi-card access will find this panel insufficient.

20 Pin Internal Connector

Installation requires a 20 pin motherboard header for the front-panel USB and audio links. The 4 pin power plug must be oriented correctly to avoid a short circuit. Systems lacking a spare 20 pin header or a compatible 4 pin power lead cannot use this dashboard.
