Ultra-thin Blu-ray Writer

The BONAEVER external drive reads and writes Blu-ray, DVD and CD media while measuring only 1.6 cm thick. It connects through USB 3.0 or USB Type-C, so it works with laptops, desktops and MacBooks running Windows XP through 11 or macOS. The slim profile slips easily into a bag for business travel or home-office use.

Check your computer before ordering

Verify that your system can play or write Blu-ray and 3D discs, because not every graphics stack supports protected 4K playback. Download Cyberlink BD & 3D Advisor to confirm the minimum operating environment for 4K Blu-ray on your machine. If your hardware lacks the required decode path, the drive will still read data discs but cannot show protected video content.

Build quality and daily use

The 1.6 cm aluminium-look chassis feels rigid and resists flex when inserted into a crowded backpack pocket. Dual USB 3.0 and Type-C cables mean you can switch between older ports and modern MacBooks without carrying an adapter. M-DISC and 50 GB BD-RE DL support give a durable archive option for movies, photos and system backups that outlasts typical hard-drive storage.

Questions about this item

Does the case include the USB 3.0 and Type-C cables needed to connect the Blu-ray drive, or must they be bought separately?

The case holds the drive and its cables; the USB 3.0 and Type-C cables come with the drive itself, so nothing extra is required.

Should I choose the version that writes to 50 GB BD-RE DL discs or the one that supports M-DISC media?

This single drive handles both 50 GB BD-RE DL and M-DISC writing, so no separate version choice is needed.

What does the 1.6 cm thickness mean when the drive is inside a laptop bag?

At 1.6 cm the drive fits easily in a slim laptop sleeve or backpack pocket without adding bulk.
