Two-Port PCI-E Serial Card

This PCI Express adapter adds two RS-232 DB9 ports to a desktop computer through a single expansion slot. It uses a WCH382 chip with a standard 16C550 UART and supports IRQ sharing across a wide range of operating systems including Windows 10 through 98, Mac OS and Linux. The card fits standard-height brackets for full-profile chassis.

250 Kbps Throughput and 48% CPU Relief

Each port delivers up to 250 Kbps data transfer for legacy serial peripherals such as modems, barcode readers, POS terminals and industrial equipment. The 16C550 UART with FIFO buffers reduces processor load by as much as 48 percent compared with conventional serial cards, leaving more headroom for other tasks. PCI-E 1.0a compliance ensures broad motherboard compatibility.

Upgrade from Single-Port or Onboard Serial

The dual-port design replaces single-port add-in cards or limited onboard headers, letting you run two devices simultaneously without a switch box. It is not for systems lacking a free PCI Express slot or for users who need USB or parallel interfaces instead. The jump is worthwhile when legacy RS-232 gear must stay in service alongside modern hardware.

Questions about this item

Will this 16C550 UART card work in a desktop that still has a PCI-E 1.0 slot?

Yes, the card follows the PCI-E 1.0 specification and fits any standard-height PCIe slot in a full-profile chassis.

How can I confirm the WCH382 chip is communicating at the rated 250 Kbps after installation?

Check the port properties in Device Manager or run a loopback test with a terminal program to verify the 250 Kbps transfer rate.

Does the box include a low-profile bracket for slim cases, or must I buy one separately?

The card ships with a standard-height bracket only; a low-profile bracket is not included and would need to be sourced separately.
