Protection Case for Legacy Modem

This case fits the BONAEVER USB 56K voice, fax and data modem that uses a USB interface and complies with V.90 and V.92 standards. It protects the external modem during transport and storage for users who still rely on dial-up connectivity. The product is new and intended for notebook or desktop PC setups requiring a physical shield for the modem hardware.

Replaces Exposed Modem Storage

The case upgrades from leaving the modem unprotected on a desk or loose in a bag where cables and ports can be damaged. The jump is worth it when the modem moves between locations or sits in environments where dust, impact or cable strain could affect the dual RJ11 ports and USB connection. It adds no new function but preserves the existing hardware condition.

Sustained Protection During Use

Under sustained load the case continues to shield the modem housing while the device handles auto-dial, tone and pulse dialing, auto-answer and auto-retrain operations. It remains in place during caller ID detection, distinctive ring handling and fax communication at 14.4K speeds. The enclosure does not interfere with quick-connect or modem-on-hold features during extended sessions.

Questions about this item

What clearance does the protection case need around the modem's two RJ11 ports?

The case is shaped for the modem's dual RJ11 ports, so leave enough room for both telephone cables to plug in without bending sharply.

Which step do people skip when putting the modem into the case?

Align the USB connector with the case opening before snapping the shell shut, otherwise the port sits crooked and the cable will not seat fully.

When should the case be replaced to keep protecting the modem?

Swap the case if the hinge cracks, the latch no longer clicks, or the interior padding has compressed so the modem shifts inside.
