Back Cover for Steam Deck

The BONAEVER back cover replaces the original rear housing on a Steam Deck. It adds a built-in kickstand and a pattern of heat-radiating holes while keeping the exact dimensions of the factory part. The piece is made from a passive heat-dissipation material and uses a staggered hole layout that blocks dust from reaching the mainboard.

Check screw type and warranty impact

Verify that you are comfortable removing the original back plate screws, because installation requires opening the device. The package includes the necessary tools, but the work may affect the manufacturer warranty on the console itself. Confirm that your existing protective case or cooling fan is compatible with a 1:1 replacement shell before ordering.

Sustained thermal behaviour

The staggered cooling holes are designed to maintain airflow during long gaming sessions rather than only during short bursts. Passive dissipation material spreads heat across the cover surface, helping the console keep performance stable over extended periods. Dust-resistant hole geometry reduces the chance of debris buildup that could degrade airflow over time.

Questions about this item

Does the replacement back cover ship with the screw-removal tools or must I supply my own?

The package includes the tools needed to remove the original screws and fit the new cover, so no extra tooling is required.

Is this a single universal back cover or are there different versions for LCD and OLED Steam Deck models?

The listing describes one updated back-cover design with heat-radiating holes and a kickstand; no separate LCD or OLED variants are mentioned.

How much lower will the Steam Deck run with the four heat-radiating holes compared with the stock cover?

The cover uses a staggered four-hole layout and passive-dissipation material to move heat away faster, but no temperature-drop figure is provided.
