Ultra-thin portable design

The lightweight protection case makes the external DVD drive easy to carry in a travel bag or keep on a desk. USB 3.0 high-speed interface provides faster data transfer with maximum DVD speed 8X, CD read speed 24X and CD burn speed 8X. Stable performance includes strong error correction and noise reduction technology.

Replaces internal optical drives

This USB-powered burner removes the need for a built-in DVD drive on laptops, ultrabooks or compact desktops that lack an internal bay. The jump is worth it when you still need to watch DVD videos, copy music files, install software from disc or create backup CDs without adding a separate power supply.

Check USB port and OS version

Ensure your computer has an available USB port; the drive is backward compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 1.0. Verify the operating system is Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10 or any version of Mac OS. No extra software or external power adapter is required for plug-and-play operation.

Questions about this item

Does the USB 3.0 cable provide enough power for the drive without an extra adapter?

Yes, the drive draws all power from the USB port, so no separate power supply is needed.

What is the correct way to plug it in so the computer recognises the drive automatically?

Connect the USB 3.0 cable directly to a USB 3.0 or 2.0 port on the computer; the system detects the drive without any driver installation.

Will the tray mechanism or laser need cleaning or replacement after heavy use?

The drive uses a standard tray-load mechanism; occasional lens cleaning with a disc cleaner keeps read and write speeds at 24x CD and 8x DVD.
