Protective case for a USB-C CAC smart card reader compatible with Windows, Android and macOS
This BONAEVER reader connects to USB-C devices and reads Common Access Cards and other ISO7816 smart cards. It targets government employees, military personnel and contractors who must authenticate on CAC-enabled portals. The compact case protects the electronics during transport and field use.
The reader handles Class A 5 V, Class B 3 V and Class C 1.8 V cards as defined by ISO7816. Motion detection automatically powers the unit down when a card is removed, while short-circuit and thermal protection guard both the reader and the inserted card.
Drivers install on Windows XP through 10 in 32-bit or 64-bit editions, on macOS for MacBook Pro 2016, 2017 and 2018 models, and on Android phones and Chromebooks with USB-C ports. Not suited for users who need a USB-A connector or who require support for contactless RFID or NFC credentials.

The reader handles 5 V, 3 V and 1.8 V cards, so it works with CAC, government ID, national ID and other ISO 7816 compliant smart cards.
USB-C provides both data and power through a single reversible plug, so the reader draws its supply directly from the host without an extra cable.
The compact dongle body sits flush with the USB-C port and leaves adjacent ports free, letting you keep other adapters or cables connected.
