Cable suspension kit for VR headsets

This six-piece ceiling-mounted system lifts tethered headset cables off the floor using elastic retractable carabiners that extend up to five feet. It is intended for owners of Quest, Quest 2, Rift, Rift S, Vive, Vive Pro, Vive Cosmos, PlayStation VR, Microsoft MR, Samsung Odyssey and Valve Index headsets who want unrestricted room-scale movement. Adhesive pads and screw hooks provide two mounting options for different ceiling types.

Behaviour during extended play sessions

Elastic extensions absorb sudden tension changes so the cable does not yank the headset when you turn or step quickly. The rubber dampener on each carabiner reduces mechanical noise transmitted to the headset cable, keeping audio and tracking distraction-free during long sessions. Retractable reels automatically take up slack as you move closer to the anchor point, maintaining consistent overhead clearance.

Limits of the overhead mounting approach

Installation requires a solid ceiling surface within reach of the play area; suspended ceilings, plasterboard without joists or rented spaces where drilling is forbidden may rule out the screw option. Adhesive pads rely on clean, flat surfaces and can lose grip over time in humid environments. The system does not eliminate the cable itself, so headset models with proprietary connector shapes must still accommodate their original tether length and bend radius.

Questions about this item

How much noise does the rubber dampener cut when the retractable carabiner extends its full 5 ft during all-day sessions?

The rubber dampener is designed to minimise cable tug and noise so the headset cable runs quietly even when the carabiner is fully extended to 5 ft.

Which mounting hardware must I already have to use the sticky-pad or screw-hook installation options?

The pack supplies adhesive pads and screw hooks; you only need a drill or screwdriver if you choose the screw-mount method.

Will the ring hook and ceiling hooks hold the heavier tether cable of an original HTC Vive alongside lighter Quest 2 cables?

Yes — the system is listed as compatible with HTC Vive, Vive Pro and Quest 2, so the supplied hooks and carabiners support both heavier and lighter headset cables.
