Bower RCN infrared remote switch for Nikon cameras, 15-foot range

Bower RCN infrared remote for Nikon

The Bower RCN is a compact and lightweight infrared remote switch designed for Nikon digital cameras that support infrared triggering. It enables photographers to capture images from a distance without physically touching the camera body. The device requires the camera menu to be set to accept remote triggering and must be aimed at the infrared sensor. It is suited for photographers wanting to reduce camera shake during long exposures or self-portraits.

Thermals noise and power draw

The remote operates on an included 3V battery, drawing minimal power for infrared signal transmission. It produces no audible noise during operation and generates no noticeable heat. The unit has no active cooling components or moving parts. It is not intended for users requiring wired connectivity or radio-frequency triggering that works around obstacles.

15-foot infrared range

The effective operating range is 15 feet (5m), requiring direct line of sight to the camera's infrared receiver. This distance determines whether the remote suits your shooting scenario, such as tripod-mounted landscape work or group photos. Obstructions or bright ambient light may reduce reliability. Buyers needing longer range or non-line-of-sight operation should consider alternative triggering methods.
